HUNDREDS of pupils from Malmesbury School arrived at their prom in style as many said a fond farewell to their school years.

Year 11s celebrated the end of their GCSEs by going all out, arriving at Tortworth Court near Wotton-under-Edge in vintage cars, a campervan, and even a bright yellow tractor on Friday.

Deputy headteacher Clark Harrell, said: "There was the usual spectacular arrivals.

“Many proud parents and staff watched from the side-lines as the students arrived.

“The drinks on arrival were enjoyed chatting in the gardens of Tortworth Court, in the warm evening sunshine and this was followed by a three-course dinner and lots of dancing.

“The older 80’s and 90’s classics seemed to draw the biggest crowds on the dance floor and students and staff danced the evening away. The evening closed at midnight with many students going on to after-prom parties.

“The students looked lovely and they behaved impeccably throughout the evening. They were a credit to themselves, the school and their parents. This was a super evening”.

Year 13s also dressed to impress with elegant dresses and smart suits as they said their final goodbyes before starting their next big venture on Friday, June 29 at Cricklade House Hotel.

Assistant headteacher, Sarah Haines, said: “Year 13s said their final goodbyes to each other at their prom.

“With glorious weather and a beautifully decorated room, students were able to enjoy a night of celebration and dancing before heading off.

“Many thanks must go to the prom committee whose organisational skills were evident in the very smooth running of the night.”

“We wish them every success in their A Level results and look forward to seeing them on results day.”
