CHIPPENHAM Borough Lands has awarded a grant of £34,000 to Dorothy House to support expansion of their Hospice at Home service and nurse specialist visits.

Borough Lands has been supporting Dorothy House with grant awards since 1993, and has contributed over £100,000 in funds to the hospice over the last five years.

Around £10,000 will go towards expanding the Hospice at Home service in Chippenham, and £24,000 will go towards funding the cost of providing Dorothy House nurse specialist visits in the town.

They will serve as the first point of contact for families to the hospice, and provide end-of-life, pain relieving care for patients, as well as advice, support and referral to other hospice services.

Christine Jenkins, welfare officer at Chippenham Borough Lands Charity said: “We are delighted to support Dorothy House’s 2018 application for funding for the year ahead and pleased that the funds allocated will go towards helping patients and families in the Chippenham parish. We wish Dorothy House much success with their extended Hospice at Home service, it is a vital community service for local residents.”

Hannah Rudd, trusts and grants fundraiser at Dorothy House Hospice Care said: “We are all extremely grateful to Borough Lands Charity for this generous award of £34,000 and for their ongoing support of the hospice over the years.”

“The funds will help us provide more patients in the Chippenham area with greater choice over their place of care and death and with it, better life quality in their final days.”
