PUPILS from St Paul’s Primary School in Chippenham who had their art work showcased at an exhibition have been praised for their amazing designs.

Members of Lacock Art Group Paul Fisher and Stephen Simpkins came to St Paul’s to give out rosettes to everyone who took part in the exhibition and prizes to pupils who won in their age categories.

The artwork designed by pupils was put on display in Lacock Village Hall, when visitors voted for their favourite drawings and paintings.

Every child who took part was given a rosette, and the top three in each age category were also awarded a trophy and art supplies.

Deputy head teacher Chris Fox said: “It is so lovely to have children recognised for their efforts in art, as sometimes schools will focus on the writing and maths.”

“It is lovely to see children excel in other areas of the curriculum and it is lovely to take part in community events because at St Paul’s we like to be part of the wider community.”

“They had to design their own piece for the exhibition and that meant the children could choose whichever medium or idea they wanted.”

Chair of Lacock Art group chairman Mr Fisher added: “We want to involve the community as much as we can and we understand how important art is to children in their development.

“A lot of thought had gone into the artwork and we had a lot of good feedback from the public who came to our exhibition.

“The level of art work is absolutely brilliant, well done to everyone.

“If you learn to draw you can do anything.”
