Embassy Brass Quintet, St Mary’s Church, June 14
IT was a joy to hear the magical harmonies of the Embassy Brass Quintet in St Mary’s Church, Devizes, as part of the Devizes Arts Festival.
The quality of musicianship was superb, and the varied programme catered for many tastes – from classical Bach through to West Side Story, to world renowned composer Malcolm Arnold.
The audience was treated to a palette much wider than the average brass ensemble, including sounds that came from the tuba that they had never heard before – the flight of the bumblebee played at amazing speed in high pitch and in 43 seconds!
The acoustic of the church was an ideal setting and Embassy Brass excelled at filling it with a delightful repertoire.
