THE Beaufort Hunt joined the Countryside Alliance's Big Rural Spring Clean and cleared the ancient Fosse Way of rubbish from Kemble to the M4

Hunts all over the country took part in Hunting's Big Rural Spring Clean over June 2/3, when members of the Beaufort Hunt formed teams to clear the historic Roman road which runs through the hunt country.

Starting close to Kemble Airfield and finishing near to the M4 near Grittleton, after several hours hard graft the job was done. Matt Ramsden, joint master, who organised the day said "There was a wonderful feeling of teamwork showing what could be achieved by very hard work in quite a short space of time."

Not only is discarded trash an eyesore, it is bad for the environment and it is also potentially hazardous to farmed livestock, wild animals and domestic pets. Ian Farquhar, joint master, said "It was simply appalling to find someone had even dumped a considerable amount of rubbish in a farmer's valuable growing crop of wheat."
