VINTAGE cars, motorbikes and memorabilia from the 40s were out on display at a care home in Chippenham for a special D-Day commemoration on Sunday (June 10).

Residents from Avon Court Care Home and their family members got to enjoy a day filled with 40s music and food as staff put on a D-Day celebration

Wellbeing coordinators Leila Garraway and Lyn Neate organised the party to bring back fond memories to their residents.

Mrs Garraway, said: "It was absolutely brilliant.

"We did it because it was the anniversary and we wanted to bring back some good memories.

"We had a lot of residents enjoying the old stuff such as the Vera Lynn music, an Ariel Motorcycle, working telephone's carried by the soldiers.

"The RAF who are celebrating 100 years came to see the residents in the afternoon and the staff were dressed in 40s costume.

"It was a wonderful afternoon. The residents kept saying what a really nice time they had."
