ACTOR, star of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, and children’s author David Walliams has been announced as Marlborough LitFest’s children’s author for 2018.

From The Boy in the Dress to Mr Stink, his wacky stories have been making children laugh about everyday life for over a decade.

He will be delighting children from Marlborough and beyond as he takes to stage in the Town Hall in September.

Louise Tinker, of the Marlborough LitFest, said: “We are delighted that David Walliams will be appearing this year as Marlborough will get to hear first-hand about his phenomenal success as a children’s author.

“LitFest, once again, has a packed programme of children’s events with local authors and award-winning story tellers taking part.”

As part of 10th anniversary celebrations of The Boy in the Dress, David Walliams will talk at LitFest about all his books written in the last 10 years, including Gangsta Granny and Awful Auntie.

Mr Walliams’ books have been translated into 46 languages and have sold over eight million copies worldwide.

He is the biggest selling children’s author to have started writing since 2000 and has had two books turned into touring stage shows.

Gangsta Granny most recently came to Bath Theatre Royal in March and Awful Auntie to the Bristol Hippodrome in May.

Best known for his children’s novels, Mr Walliams has also collaborated with celebrated British illustrators, Quentin Blake and Tony Ross, and his latest venture is the forthcoming stage musical show of The Boy in the Dress, with music by Robbie Williams.

He’ll be appearing on September 30 at 3pm at the Memorial Hall in Marlborough College.

The complete LitFest programme will be available on July 11, when the box office opens.

More than 40 speakers are stepping onto the Lit Fest stage from September 27-30.
