STATE of the art gym facilities are being fitted at the new Pewsey Vale Community Campus ahead of its Autumn grand opening.

The £8.4m fitness centre has been built on the site of the old sports centre in Pewsey and will become home to a four lane swimming pool, gym, fitness suite, skate park and cafe.

John Thomson, cabinet member with responsibility for campuses said: “The new campus is sure to be a wonderful asset for the community of Pewsey.

“It will offer so many amazing opportunities on one site, and Wiltshire Council are thrilled that we can provide this fantastic facility for Pewsey and the neighbouring area.”

Currently running to plan, fitness fans have just a few more months to wait before they can get into the new development.

In the meantime, a substitute site at SSI House, Fordbrook Business Centre has been opened as a gym for members to use.

The campus follows in the footsteps of Corsham, Tisbury and Salisbury as part of a campus programme that was set to see 18 new campuses created over the county. Since then, campus plans for Westbury, Amesbury and Warminster have been cancelled after increased cuts to Wiltshire Council's budget since 2010 when the project was first launched.
