VOLUNTEERS at Chippenham Museum have been celebrating Volunteers' Week, a national event celebrating the fantastic contribution made by millions of volunteers across the UK.

Over 50 of the museum's volunteers were invited to a celebration with cake at Chippenham's Yelde Hall.

In the last year, the museum's volunteer team has given a combined total of 5,100 hours in a variety of roles including welcoming visitors and looking after objects and documents.

Leader of Chippenham Town Council, Sandie Webb, said: "We are so grateful to the team of volunteers who support our museum.

"They offer a wonderful mix of experience which enriches our customer experience."

Chippenham Museum Curator Melissa Barnett, added: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank our superb volunteer team, particularly for their continued support during our recent development projects.

"Thanks to our volunteers the museum is able to fulfil its mission of sharing and caring for Chippenham's past with far greater impact."

The museum, located in the Market Place, is free to explore and open Monday to Saturday 10am – 4pm including bank holidays.
