Two teenagers from Devizes Canoe Club have raised £1,400 for the Royal British Legion by taking part in one of the world's most famous canoe racers.

Daniel, who is a sixth former at Devizes School, and Reeve have just handed over the cash to the Devizes branch of the Legion and have been thanked by the organisation. They had hoped to complete the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race but high water meant they and other crews were stopped at Reading.

But the boys had completed 55 miles in 9hrs and they finished in fifth place in the junior doubles.

Vera Richmond from the British Legion said: "The Devizes RBL Branch would like to thank both Daniel and Reeve for opting to raise their sponsorship for our cause. We support all of our military and ex-service personnel in many ways: Financial, emotional, hearing, comradeship and many other ways. What the boys have raised is much appreciated and will go towards the help we give.''

The boys started kayaking together in 2016 and took part in a number of races and worked their way up the rankings.
