A MEMBER of Wiltshire Wildlife Trust has expressed concerns about the way the organisation has re-organised its records centre which collates information on wildlife in the county.

The man who regularly contributes information said: "I am a member of the trust but as far as I am aware there has been no consultation with members about this." He said he had been told people in the department at the trust's base at Elm Tree Court, Devizes had lost their jobs.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Wildlife Trust confirmed a review had been undertaken on the work of the department and two people had left but would not confirm or deny if they had been made redundant.

The Trust said: "Following the departure of two staff to take up roles elsewhere, we took the opportunity to review the future needs of the Record Centre. From this process we developed a new staff structure and are now recruiting for these posts. Following the review, staff roles were revised and the proposed number of staff increased from 2.5FTE to 3.

"Wiltshire Wildlife Trust strongly supports the work of the Record Centre. In the face of increasing development pressure and the nationwide declines in wildlife it is more important than ever that we provide accurate and detailed information to guide decisions affecting the natural environment.

"It is important that the Record Centre is able to meet current and future needs."
