HUNDREDS of runners and riders dressed in rainbow colours will descend on Castle Combe racing circuit next Sunday to celebrate the life of a little girl and raise money for Springboard Opportunity Group, the Chippenham children’s charity that helped her during her short life.

The Rainbow Run and Ride on June 10 will remember Rosie Simpson, who died just after her fourth birthday last year. Multi-medal-winning Paralympic athlete Stephanie Millward will open the day and officially start the 3km family fun run. The event will start at 2pm, then at 3.45pm the crowds will take to the track on their bikes, scooters, roller blades to be part of a mass rainbow ride.

In the run-up hundreds of individuals and community groups have been busy knitting and crafting rainbow coloured roses for people to buy and wear as they take part to enable us to support other children like Rosie and their families.

Lucy Simpson, Rosie’s mum, said: “The campaign literally went viral, we’ve received beautiful handmade flowers from all over the country, we’ve even received some from France, Spain and Australia. We have been overwhelmed by people’s generosity. It’s great to see local people and firms come together to support our event.”
