DEVASTATED friends of a young man found dead by a dog walker in The Parade on Sunday morning have remembered him as a kind and popular man.

Luke Doyle was reportedly found hanged in a tree in The Parade and police are not treating his death as suspicious.

Originally from Chester, the 23-year-old had worked as a bar manager in a pub near Hungerford and was working at The Bear and living with friends at the time of his death.

Tim Athawes used to work with Luke at The Bear on the High Street and said: “He was well liked and friendly. I have worked with him and seen him very recently.

“It didn’t hit me till later that day and then it completely took over.

“We had loads of people on the pub that evening remembering him and my phone has been full of messages from people who knew him.

“It is hard to pull a pint and cry at the same time, but it was good that everyone came together.”

A friend who was laying a candle at the site where he died in The Parade said: “Sadly he didn’t speak put about what he must have been going through.

“We had no idea what he struggling in any way.”

Police officers were at the scene on Sunday morning and a private ambulance was seen leaving the area at 11am.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 7.30am on Sunday, May 27, following a report from a member of the public that a male had been found deceased in The Parade, Marlborough.

“Officers arrived at the scene and found a man in his 20s deceased. An ambulance was also called.

“The incident is believed to be non-suspicious and our enquiries are on-going. Next of kin have been informed.”

Flowers and candles have been placed on the spot where he was discovered near the old Methodist church and cards and dedications have been written to him describing him as a kind man.

A funeral will be held in Chester for Luke and a commemoration of his life is being planned by friends and co-workers who knew him in Marlborough following the funeral at a later date.
