PUPILS at Dauntsey's School near Devizes are preparing for an action packed year of drama.

Following on from success this academic year with a theatre version of Billy Elliot the school has four plays scheduled for the autumn term.

They will include Medicine Cabinet which has been written by upper sixth pupil Alex, a production of Steven Berkoff's Fall Of The House of Usher, comedy with The Virtuous Burglar and the musical Our House which was a bit hit earlier this year for Max's Theatre School in Devizes.

This show which is full of Madness songs is likely to be a winner with audiences of all age groups.

After the Christmas break there will be a new play called Delta written and directed by performing arts manager Matthew Herring and then a play called Pillowman by Irish award winner Martin McDonagh.

But again it is likely that a play with a familiar title, this time a version of Roald Dahl's Danny, Champion of the World, will have people queuing for tickets. It will be performed by pupils from the lower school.

Rikki Jackson, the school's director of drama, said: "“Along with devising practical exams and a dance showcase, it should be a memorable and varied programme offering a huge amount for everyone to get involved with, both on stage and behind the scenes.

“The December musical is always a much-anticipated highlight and we hope the energetic choreography and colourful staging of Our House will be a popular and feel good choice – for pupils and audience alike.”
