ATHLETIC gymnasts from Marlborough St Mary’s won big after balancing their nerves and taking top positions at a county competition.
Children from the Year 4 gymnastics team came second in the Wiltshire Level 3 Schools’ Gymnastics competition.The team of six, Sam Perez-Kolenkiewicz, Ellie Neathey, Charlotte Morley, Svea Rosedale, Margarita Rumbold and Amelie Haines, all performed two vaults and a floor routine to come home with an overall silver medal.
Headteacher, Anne Schwodler, said: “They all did really well at the competition. Well done to everyone who took part.”
Svea Rosedale won a personal gold medal with an outstanding vault, scoring 9.75 and also won a silver medal in the all-round competition. Ellie Neathey attained a bronze medal in the all-round competition.
The team were coached by Rachel Haines, a teacher at Marlborough St Mary’s, who is also a qualified international rhythmic gymnastics judge and was on the selection committee for the Commonwealth Games team.
