VILLAGERS are preparing for the annual Lacock School Scarecrow trail this Bank Holiday weekend (26-28 May).

Thousands of visitors will descend upon the picturesque National Trust village as they take part in this year’s scarecrow trail, which has the theme of sitcoms.

Local businesses will have stalls, as well as food, drink and face painting on offer.

Organisers the Friends of Lacock School have raised thousands of pounds for the primary school on the High Street in previous years, and hope this year will be no different.

Emily Parry, secretary of Friends of Lacock Primary, said: “I think people come because it is a beautiful village. We do get a lot of people who come just for a walk on the bank holiday weekend so we do really benefit well.

“It is a really big community thing, companies and businesses get involved as well as little community groups and the church. The whole community really comes together.

“If we can raise enough money this year we hope to refurbish the kitchen, so children can have a better space to do some cooking.”

Prizes are up for grabs for the people who guess correctly who or what the 40 scarecrows are.
