A QUIZ run by keep fit class organiser Catherine Drage has raised money for breast cancer research and to help a teenager go on a World Scout Jamboree.
Ms Drage organised the quiz at the Nursteed Centre in Devizes and raised £1,700 which will be split between the charity and 14-year-old Elliott Scott’s jamboree fund.
He is trying to raise £4,000 so he can go on the trip to West Virginia in the USA next year. Ms Drage said: “He has been doing lots of bag packing and clearing tables in coffee shops.
“He has also been to every charity quiz and helped out tremendously at the events. This is why we decided this time to help him by raising some of the money for him alongside the breast cancer charity.”i
She thanked businesses in Devizes which gave prizes. She said: “Without their support we would not be able to raise so much.” She thanked Grist Environmental for paying for the hire of the hall and Pizza Express, the Peppermill, Wadworths and Lowerfields Butchers who gave vouchers. Prizes also came from Emporium, Spirit, Echo Lane and supermarkets.
