READING groups have celebrated the launch of the 2018 Marlborough Big Town Read which has been announced as Chris Cleave’s Everyone Brave is Forgiven.
The historical novel is set in London and Malta during the Second World War and is based on the experiences of his grandparents and in particular the real-life love letters between them.
Kay Newman, of Marlborough LitFest, said: “Chris Cleave will be a brilliant Big Town Read author. He is charming, fun, and just loves talking to people about his work.”
Previous Big Town Read authors have included Laline Paull, Sathnam Sanghera, Jackie Kay, Rachel Joyce and Elizabeth Buchan.
Free copies of the novel will be available from Marlborough Library during the summer; in previous years, readers have returned their copies to the library for others to read after them.
Mr Cleave will be appearing at 5pm on Sunday, September 30 at Marlborough Town Hall.
