A WILTSHIRE man committed suicide by inhaling butane and propane gas, an inquest was told on Tuesday (May 22).

Alan McArthur, a 47-year-old safety engineer, took his own life in a quiet country lane near Batheaston.

The Avon Coroner's Court heard the bachelor suffered from depression but had not sought help from his local GP.

Mr McArthur was found at 6.35pm in Seven Acres Lane, Batheaston, on March 1, after committing suicide by self-asphyxiation.

Mr McArthur, of Yatesbury near Cherhill, was unmarried and had no children. He left a note for his parents who attended the inquest.

Avon Coroner, Myfanwy Buckeridge, concluded the inquest at Flax Bourton that Mr McArthur committed suicide.
