CALNE Town joint-manager Ben Redford has been pleased with his side’s performance over their last two outings after bringing an end to their five-game losing streak.

Calne were unlucky not to get something from their game with fourth-placed Cheddar on Saturday, as they had to settle for a 2-1 away defeat, Charlie Austin getting the goal.

Visitor Harry Spanton offered a helping hand to the officials, as he was roped in as a linesman after the official picked up an injury during the game.

But Redford’s troops went one better during the week, as they completed an accomplished performance away to bottom side Warminster Town, to win 2-0 as Stuart Windsor bagged a brace.

“It was great to finally get a win after this bad run. I’d say it was more of a relief for me and Clive (McDaid, co-manager) to get the three points,” he said

“Hopefully we can now push on in our last two games and finish strongly.

“If we reach 50 points we will be delighted with that, but to be honest we’re reasonably happy no matter where we end up because we’ve avoided relegation and finished with a better points tally than a lot of people would have thought.

“On Saturday we went to Cheddar missing a lot of regular players but played really well, we conceded a late goal to lose 2-1 but we were both happy with the performance and fight from the players.

“Harry Spanton showed great sportsmanship by running the line after the referee got injured too.”

Malmesbury Victoria also had a tough game at the weekend as they were beaten 5-2 at home by Radstock Town at the Flying Monk Ground.

The Vics then lost 3-0 away to Bristol Telephones in midweek.

Devizes Town completed a 3-0 win at home to Bishops Lydeard after Tom Slater bagged a praise in addition to Jack Hopps’ goal.

Corsham Town further relaxed their relegation concerns as they recorded back-to-back wins with a 3-1 victory over Warminster.

Robbie Tripp, Ben Wickens and Jayden Papy were all on the scoresheet on Saturday, while Jamie Irwin, Leigh Rogers and Papy notched in their 4-3 defeat to Wincanton Town during the week.

After a weekend off, Chippenham Park made a disappointing return to domestic action as they lost 5-1 to Cheddar.
