POWERFUL plots that transform readers to another world have been gripping pupils at Rushall school who took part in a sponsored readathon.
Children could pick whatever books they wanted, whether it was fantasy or the latest David Walliams best seller.
English Subject Leader at Rushall Primary School explained that the aim wasn’t to be competitive but to get children passionate about picking up a story.
11 participants from all classes raised £635.20 to buy new books for children in hospital.
Gordon Egginton said: “The aim of the project was to instil a lifelong love of reading and the love of reading for pleasure.
“Through the challenge they got really interested in the idea that for children stuck in hospital a book can transport them to another world and they can really lose themselves in a good tale.
“They all got involved and found their own sponsors, I am really proud of them.”
