RENOVATION work has begun on the war memorial in Calne.
Old and broken stone work will be replaced by the restoration team, who have been working at the site for the last three weeks.
The WWI memorial will also be cleaned using a pressure steam jetting system and uneven paths will be replaced.
The names of those remembered at the site will be re-cut and painted in.
Paul Ellis of the Royal British Legion said: “This is extensive work and has been made possible by collection tins in our Calne town business, donations, and a grant from the War Memorials Trust.
“Calne branch of the Royal British Legion, working in partnership with Calne Town Council, Salisbury Dioses, Slade Smith and Winrow Architects and the War Memorial Restoration Company will achieve a War Memorial that will stand the test of time for another 100 years.”
