CALNE Town boss Ben Redford was left beaming with pride as his makeshift XI claimed a 2-0 away win over Portishead Town.

Despite being hampered with injuries and unavailability, Rory Worthington and Max Wyatt both notched to secure their 12th Toolstation League First Division win of the season on Tuesday night.

“I made about seven changes so it was a different side, but all the lads who came in did well,” said Redford, whose side lost 4-1 at home to Cheddar on Saturday.

“I think it shows strength in depth and more commitment than what we had last year.

“Players who aren’t getting a game are still turning up and want the club to do well. We all want the same thing and that is to win.

“After we went 1-0 up they came straight back at us but we dealt with the pressure and scored two great goals.”

Elsewhere, Malmesbury Victoria bounced back from their 3-0 defeat to Almondsbury on Saturday with a midweek win of their own, they beat Oldland Abbotonians 3-0 at home.

Aggie Hext, Jamie Packer and Ant Brown all got on the scoresheet, to ensure all three points remained at the Flying Monk Ground.

Devizes Town returned to action in midweek after a two-week lay off as they played host to high-flying Keynsham Town.

After a goalless opening half in which Jamie Ollis was sent off for the visitors, the home side were undone as Jamie Price struck the winner with 15 minutes to play.

Adam Mitchell got Corsham Town off to a perfect start away to Radstock Town on Tuesday as he handed Jamie Harrison’s troops a 1-0 advantage.

However, a quickfire double from the home side took them ahead and two more goals either side of half-time wrapped up all three points

Chippenham Park registered their second win in six matches on Saturday as they were 1-0 winners at Welton Rovers.

Alex Pring got the game’s only goal as he signed off a sweeping move in the 22nd minute and Park were able to hold firm for three points as they moved up to 15th in the standings.

In the Hellenic League, Royal Wootton Bassett drew 1-1 with Abingdon United. Substitute Dale Richards snatching a point for Sam Collier’s troops.
