CORSHAM are celebrating promotion to the GoCrea8 League's East Central One division after hitting Royal Wootton Bassett B for six on Saturday.

Skipper Matty Lewis' side are a point clear of the second-placed Marlborough B in East Central Two, but will clinch the title if their rivals drop points in either of their two remaining matches.

Lewis said: “Throughout the season these lads have stepped onto the pitch and given 100 per cent week in week out, be that in training or in games.

"I couldn’t have asked for more from any player on the pitch. Some teams have really made us work for our results but our team ethos and work rate has seen us come out on top against some very strong opposition.''

Corsham plan on introducing a men's second team next season. For more information, see info.corshamhockey@googlemail.com or visit CorshamHockey.org.uk.

Meanwhile, Chippenham A are also celebrating promotion after they beat South Glos 3-1 to secure elevation from Central Two with a match to spare

The visitors were 2-0 ahead at the interval, Elliot Jones deflecting home the opener before a Nigel Stonham drag-flick doubled the advantage.

Craig Kilminster's flick from an acute angle wrapped up the success after the break, despite a Glos reply.

Chippenham B lost 4-2 to City of Bath B in East Central One, both Chippenham goals coming from Dave Mantle.

The D team lost 5-0 to Shepton Mallet C in East Central Two.
