A man who is accused of threatening to kill a man and to harm a dog is to face trial by judge and jury.

Paul Sadler also faced two counts of assault in relation to an alleged incident earlier this year when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court

The 41-year-old is said to have made a threat to kill a man on Saturday January 20 and also threatened to kill a dog on the same day.

Sadler, of Estcourt Street, Devizes, pleaded not guilty to threats to kill, two counts of common assault and threatening to destroy or damage property, which was a dog called Bonnie.

He pleaded guilty to a fifth charge of assaulting a woman by beating which took place on the same day.

Recorder Ed Burgess QC adjourned the case to Monday April 16 and released him on conditional bail until then.
