OIL that spilled into the River Kennet did not have a major impact on nearby animal habitats and environment, an investigation carried out by Thames Water has found.
The fast flowing nature of the river meant that the oil was dispersed quickly after the February 13 spill.
A spokesman for Thames water said: “The source of the pollution has not been identified. However, the Environment Agency will be writing to businesses that could be potential sources of the spillage to provide advice and guidance on pollution prevention, and to ensure they are aware of the action to take if they should have a spill of this kind.”
