A CAMPAIGN to tackle dog fouling in Marlborough has been launched by the Town Council and vets surgery to rid the town of dog mess.Dog owners are being urged to clear up after their furry friends, after some owners left bagged dog mess hanging from branches in trees and allowed dogs to foul on popular walkways.
Drove Veterinary Hospital has designed a series of posters which will go up in Marlborough to remind owners of their responsibilities.
Town mayor Mervyn Hall said: “It’s a very real problem in Marlborough and all of our open spaces are plagued with what can only be described as discourteous and anti-social behaviour. Dog mess can be bagged and put into any bin for collection. Instead we see dog mess everywhere. Let’s try to sort it out.”
Emma Coles, a vet at Drove Veterinary Hospital said: “Let’s all act responsibly so we can all enjoy our fantastic local environment.”
It is an offence not to dispose of dog mess in a public place and breaches carry fixed fines of £75 rising to £1,000 for serious offenders.
