PEOPLE across Wiltshire have felt the aftershocks of an earthquake which hit a welsh town this afternoon.

Dozens of people from all over the county reported feeling a tremor from the 4.4 magnitude earthquake which hit an area 20km from Swansea at 2.32pm.

Social media is awash with people reporting their experience of the tremors, with residents of Railway Close in Westbury losing electricity momentarily to people noticing their lights were flickering and their furniture was shaking.

Lara Payne from Chippenham said they noticed something after her son, who was playing video games with friends at the time, thought someone was shaking his chair from behind.

Sue Stanbury from Warminster also noticed the tremor as she was sat in her dining room with her husband.

Dyfed-Powys Police in Wales said they received a high number of calls about the earthquake but it is not yet known if anyone has been injured.
