STAFF and customers of a Devizes supermarket, who were inspired by sick toddler Rory Holloran to push their charity fundraising to new levels, have finished top store in the country.

Morrisons raised a total of £19,335.14 in 2017 for CLIC Sargant after Rory, two, showed his bravery by battling leukaemia. His gran Carol Lee has worked at the store for 19 years and her grandson loves to put on his own uniform and join her at the tills.

A spokesman for the Devizes store said: "We would like thank all the customers and colleagues of Morrisons, Devizes for helping raise an incredible amount last year for our partner charity Clic Sargent.

"You have also helped the store to climb to the top of the fundraising ladder beating over 693 other stores."

Included in the total was £3,407 from a ball stall and the store says that after being moved to make way for Christmas stock it is back at the end of checkouts. Donations for the stall are welcome.

Rory, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in June, and his family have been supported by CLIC Sargent. Mrs Lee said: ""When Morrisons began to support CLIC Sargent in February, I knew it was a great cause, but I didn’t realise just how valuable it is.

"When Rory was diagnosed in June, our whole world changed. The support CLIC Sargent has given to us all has been unbelievable. Now we just want to give something back to say thank you for everything the charity has done for us.”
