HUNDREDS of pounds will go towards maintaining nature reserves all over the county after Wessex Auction Room in Chippenham helped raise money for the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.

The auctioneers gave one pound from every lot sold at their Christmas charity event in December, with the hopes of supporting Wiltshire residents in living more sustainably.

Last week, Martin Hughes from the auction room presented the Trust with a cheque for more than £800, which will be put towards the general fund.

Martin Hughes said: “We were absolutely delighted at the support we received from Wiltshire residents who came down to Wessex to get behind the cause.

"It was a brilliant atmosphere in the room and we are extremely pleased to be able to make a donation of £880. We look forward to working with the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust throughout 2018."

Rebecca Goddard, fundraising officer at the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust added: “We are delighted to receive this support from Wessex Auction Rooms. This money will be used to help fund the work we do across Wiltshire and Swindon including working with schools, volunteers, vulnerable members of our community and to improve and protect our natural environment.”
