PUPILS from Lawn Manor Academy showed off their singing abilities when they visited residents of care homes recently.

The trip to day centre OK4U, Whitbourne House, Kingsmead and Quarry Mount care homes was organised by music teacher David Jones so that the students could sing some festival carols and classic songs.

Library officer Rachel Reynolds went along to join in the festivities and said everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

She said: “The students were fantastic with everyone, the whole event was rather emotional for many reasons.

“I felt proud of all the students for their caring nature and enormous talents they all have, plus it certainly makes you think about our own families and own lives, especially at this time of year.

“It was amazing to see all the people we visited joining in with the songs and getting up to dance.

“The students embraced this and we then had a struggle to get them to return to school as they were having such fun.

“I did have a few tears as one student sang Hallelujah. I felt very honoured to be part of this opportunity and there have already been discussions about visiting OK4U to do a concert next year.”
