DR WHO fans were in for a treat in Aldbourne after a cast member who filmed in the village for the show 40 years ago returned to meet fans.

Actress Damaris Hayman, now 88, starred as Olivia Hawthorne in two episodes, White Witch of Devil’s End and The Daemons, filmed in 1971. Aldbourne now has a host of Dr Who themed bins including a Dalek and Tardis to celebrate its link to the show.

Ms Hayman returned on December 3 with Reeltime Pictures film makers to thank locals who helped film a Dr Who themed documentary earlier in the year. Members of the show’s fictional military organisation UNIT escorted Ms Hayman and even her old nemesis The Master showed up.

Organiser Joanne Hutchings said: “Damaris was kind enough to brave the cold on the village green to chat with the intrepid men and women of UNIT, and spoke kindly to her adversary, The Master.

“Then it was back into the warm at the Crown to meet and thank locals who had helped with the filming during the summer.”
