AN ETHICAL business selling healthy smoothies to the Chippenham community has been set up by a team of Abbeyfield School pupils.

The team of ten A-level pupils, led by 17-year-old managing director James Robinson, created the Native Company last month as part of the young enterprise scheme.

"Our business teacher entered us into the competition and we had to pay a small registration fee and then we got all the resources we needed and a mentor," James said.

"Native started out because we have a few health concious members who highlighted a gap in the market so we went for it.

“Our company is based around being as environmentally friendly as possible meaning any materials that we use are recyclable and all produce which enters our smoothies are sourced locally and are fresh.

“We want to provide products and packages aimed at fuelling your health and your happiness in the most positive way.

The company, who is working on reaching the finals of the scheme in May, made a £120 profit at their first trade event in Swindon last month and is also working with a publisher to produce a recipe book and subscription service.

"One of our team members is quite good with Photoshop, so he's working on putting a recipe book together, while a few others are working on a subscription service where people in the local area can pay a small fee for ingredients and a recipe card to be delivered to their door every week," he added.

"We all took GCSE business, so to put the basics into practice is great and it's going really well so far."
