TUNES played out by the Marlborough Accordion Orchestra launched a 24 hour music marathon at the Great Western Hospital earlier this month.

The training group wowed crowds with a rendition of 'She’ll be coming round the mountain' along with traditional accordion polkas for one hour before other musicians took over at the hospital fundraising day.

The accordion orchestra has been running for five years and is now hoping their performance will inspire more people to take up the hobby.

Marilyn Mason, who lives in Rowbuck Meadow and has been playing the accordion for over 25 years said: “Anyone interested can get in touch, we have instruments you can borrow and would love to see some new faces join.

“It is a great thing to be a part of. We will have a host of concerts leading up to Christmas now.”

The conductor of the training group confirmed that over £400 was raised by the group for The Brighter Futures Radiotherapy Appeal following the music marathon.
