FILM director Guy Ritchie and actor Martin Clunes have given the opening of a new Julia's House charity shop a major boost even before it opens.

Mr Ritchie, his wife Jacqui, and Mr Clunes have all donated clothing that will go for auction and be on display when the shop opens next Thursday (2) at 10am.

The trio, who are all patrons of the children’s hospice charity, which opened a new centre in Devizes earlier this year, are determined to help make the shop a success.

Mr Clunes, who officially opened the Devizes hospice, has donated a suit he wore as Doc Martin the in TV series while Mr Ritchie has given a Versace suit and a coat. His wife donated an Alexander McQueen dress.

Retail Manager Tracy Stanley said: “We are thrilled to have the support of our patrons for our first Wiltshire shop. We have some fantastic designer labels up for grabs for a snip of the price.

“Julia’s House shops have a special look and feel that is very different to most people’s perceptions of a charity shop. With fresh modern interiors, room set ideas and vintage-inspired fittings it should be a really enjoyable experience for our customers.

"Supporting us by donating or shopping means supporting the many local families with life-limited children we care for."

A number of other designer brands including a Vivienne Westwood coat and big brand labels such as Ted Baker, Phase Eight and Jack Wills will be on sale.

Over the past few weeks volunteers, including teams from the Army and local businesses, have been painting and preparing the interior of the new premises at The Bridge, Fisherton Street.

The shop will showcase larger pieces of furniture and homeware as well as high quality clothing, accessories, toys and books.

The silent auction for the lots will close at midnight on Sunday, November 19. Bids can be made in store or by emailing retail@juliashouse.org and putting ‘celebrity clothes bid’ in the subject box.
