A DEVIZES cub pack is proving so popular that an extra assistant leader is needed to keep up with demand.

Scott Coleman and his team who run 6th Devizes Cubs are struggling to keep up with demand. He said: "It’s the fact that we’re the biggest Scout Group in Devizes. We now need another assistant leader as we are having to run a parent rota, as well as already having myself and an assistant.

"It's one Monday a week, mostly from 6pm to 7.30pm We have have occasional weekend activities and sometimes a night away."

The cubs have been busy in recent weeks collecting money from bag packing at Sainsburys which raised £272.73 and taking part in a tea dance at the BUPA Nursing Home in Market Lavington."

Mr Coleman said: "Only one of the Cubs who took part in the packing, had ever bag packed before. One moment several people won’t forget was when one Cub asked a customer, 'would you like your bags packed?' To which the answer was 'no thank you'.

"The Cub then replied 'you can still put your money in our tub though.'

"A good few people laughed, including the customer themselves, seeing the funny side of the young Cub's innocence."

But everyone was happy to see the cubs at the care home for its Silver Tea Dance.

Mr Coleman said: "Following a success last year, the Cubs were invited back to take part and help out, sit and talk with the residents and generally bring a smile to their faces.
