KENNET Valley Cricket Club promises to have the best kept lawns after National Lottery funding donated cash for a new mower.

The Big Lottery Fund gave £9,000 to the club to buy the machine which will tame the grounds for future games and matches on the Lockeridge Lane site.

Work to maintain the village sports field will become easier following the donation to the club, which is hosting its annual Easties v Westies match this Sunday on the field.

Regular team mates will become enemies for the afternoon during the fun match with those living to the west of Kennet Valley pitted against their partners living on the east.

Celebrating the founder of the club Edward Baliszewski, the Baliszewski Trophy will be presented to the victorious team.

The club got a slice of £3,200,584 shared between 183 projects to improve community projects across the UK.

From lawn mowers to new vegetable gardens and new roofs, worthy causes have had the cash injection through the series of National Lottery grants.
