PROMS (not) In The Park was a huge success at its indoor venue of the Corn Exchange, Devizes after organisers feared the poor weather forecast might mean a second cancellation.

"The Children’s Proms was rained off the week before when it was due to be held in Hillworth Park so we took the brave decision to move the main proms to the Corn Exchange,.

"It was a huges success. Devizes Town Band included part of the programme at the beginning of the concert, including a marvellous interpretation of Peter and the Wolf narrated by Fantasy Radio’s Mark Jones."

Young singers Orla Dunne and Eve Williams also performed to great acclaim. Pianist and singer Chloe Jordan also performed two excellent sets and joined the band for the rousing finale of Jerusalem.

The audience played its part by bringing flags to wave to make sure the full proms experience was enjoyed despite the move indoors.

Mrs Williams said: "Moving the event worked incredibly well and the Ceres Hall was packed throughout.Joining the two Proms events was a brilliant idea, with one family saying that they brought their children to hear the band performing Peter and the Wolf and the children asked to stay for the whole of the concert."

The event was broadcast live by Fantasy Radio and compered by Mr Jones.
