A GROUP of students taking part in the government led NCS project took part in a bag packing fundraiser at a local supermarket last Monday and Tuesday to raise money for Julian House.

Around 15 students and two adult leaders took part in the fundraising at the Emery Gate Tesco branch, Chippenham to raise funds for the Bath based charity, who offer direct support for those who are socially excluded including a range of homeless services and support for those suffering domestic abuse and violence.

Donations from the bag pack and a Justgiving page meant their target of £250 was surpassed and this was added to £152 made from a car boot sale in Lacock.

One of the students involved, Eloise Robinson said the event was “a great success and better than expected.”

NCS is a government led social development programme for 15-17 year olds, offering them a 4 week course helping develop personal skills through a camping week, a week’s stay at Grittleton house in Chippenham to practice CV writing and presentation skills and 2 weeks to plan and carry out a fundraiser for a charity of their choice.

Describing her experience, Eloise said: “I have really enjoyed my experience doing NCS and I have met new friends I will keep for a long time to come.”
