A DOG groomer has given her two-and-a-half-year-old Irish Terrier a big bone after she won the Best in Show at the Southern Irish Terrier Society Open Show last month.
Karen Hobson, who runs Hobson’s Regal Hounds, has owned Irish Terriers for five years now but she was delighted to discover that Ailis, her “naughty puppy”, had won the prestigious accolade.
“We were showing her in Southampton last month and she got her first ever Best in Show,” Mrs Hobson, who used to compete in the grooming circuit years ago, said. “She has won a few groups and Best in Breeds before but this is her biggest win yet.
“We are absolutely delighted and we came home and there was a big bone for her and a big glass of bubbly for me.”
Ailis, who also came second in her class at Crufts this year, was commended for her great performance, shape, alertness and obedience during the competition.
The Irish Terrier will attempt to keep her form at the Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show this weekend.
