Two men are beginning prison sentences today after admitting to a burglary.
The morning burglary took place at a home in Barrow Close, Marlborough, on March 9 where bedrooms were searched and jewellery was stolen.
Sharp eyed witnesses took down the details of the car used by the men to leave the scene and police spotted it on the M4 later the same day.
Earrings, chains and bracelets all taken from the home were uncovered inside the vehicle and the men were arrested by Roads Policing Officers.
Simon Charles Hinton, 48, of Heanor, Derbyshire, pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and Stuart Alexander Barker, 41, who is thought to have last had a Swindon address, pleaded guilty to burglary.
Hinton was given a 12 month prison sentence and Barker was sentenced to 40 months imprisonment.
Detective Constable Kimberley Weston said: “I am very pleased that these two men have received custodial sentences for the parts they played in this crime.
“I’d like to thank the witnesses who were able to pass a detailed description of the vehicle and offenders on to police quickly, which led to their vehicle being stopped swiftly on the M4.”
“This incident left the victims feeling the memories they had created, and everything that made their house a home, was now tainted.
“I hope that the result today goes some way in helping them recover from this ordeal.”
