A CHARITY worker from Chippenham will be returning to Old Sarum Airfield to complete her 10,000ft skydive after her original jump was called off due to complications with insurance.
Lianne Hegarty, an administrator for Barnardo's Redland Nursery and Holiday Club, hopes to raise hundreds of pounds for the children's charity from the skydive, which will take in Salisbury on Saturday, August 26.
The administrator, who was originally meant to jump alongside her colleague and early years practitioner Kirsty Nokes, has already raised £400 but hopes that figure can climb over the next two weeks.
"Barnardo's provides a lot of important services across Wiltshire and I've seen for myself their fantastic support for vulnerable families, offering a lifeline and transforming people's prospects," Ms Hegarty, who lives in Cepen Park, said.
“I was petrified of jumping out of a plane but I was doing it for a good cause, so I was devastated when I couldn’t get the cover for the original jump with Kirsty. However, I was still able to take part in the training and see the aeroplane so now it’s less of a mystery and hopefully I’ll be less anxious.
“Kirsty and I wanted to do the jump together and share the experience – now we’ll still be able to share the experience, we’ll just be jumping on different days!”
