POLICE swooped on an illegal rave during the early hours of Sunday after around 100 people gathered on land near Devizes

Two people were arrested and given fixed penalty notices for drug and drink offences.

A police spokesman said: "We were made aware of a number of vehicles attending a site off Gunsite Road, West Kennett, Marlborough, shortly before 1am on 6 August.

"Officers attended the scene and approximately 100 people were on site. Officers successfully dispersed the group, and all vehicles had left the site by 3.30am.

"Two arrests were made – a 45-year-old man from Bristol was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug and was dealt with by way of a fixed penalty notice. A 29-year-old woman from Bristol was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and was dealt with also by way of a fixed penalty notice."

Members of Wiltshire Police's new Unmanned Aviation Support Group, which uses drones to get an aerial view to help beat crime, tweeted: "Another busy evening for the teams last night. Deployed to an illegal rave near Devizes."
