A FAMILY that organised a garden party after air ambulance crew helped save the life of great grandfather Brian Marshall have presented more than £1,000 to the charity.

Mr Marshall, 81, and his wife June visited the air ambulance base in Devizes to thank them in person and hand over a cheque for £1,107.83 that will help keep the helicopter flying.

Mr Marshall and his wife held the garden party at Crammer Court in Devizes last month after pledging to raise money for the cause after he suffered a heart attack on the day they moved into their new home at the complex in February.

His daughter Janet Holmes helped her parents organise the event. She said: ""We will always be so grateful to the air ambulance. If it hadn't been for them we don't think he would be here today."

The Marshalls were supported by other residents from Crammer Court who helped to bake cakes. Cream teas were served and a tombola and raffle helped raise cash.

When the couple handed over the cheque last week they met Keith Mills who was part of the crew who treated Mr Marshall before he was flown to hospital in Bristol.
