HILLS Waste will not be running the majority of household recycling centres in the county after Wiltshire Council confirmed another contractor would be taking on the role.

Wiltshire Council announced that FCC Environment would now be looking after nine household recycling centres effective from October 2 while Hills Waste Solutions would continue to provide waste and recycling collection services to the county. The Honeyball and Purton sites however, would remain under Hills Waste control.

The new waste and recycling collection contract, which will start on July 30, 2018, will streamline the recycling service with black boxes to be used solely for glass collection and blue lidded bins able to take all other recyclables, including a wider selection of plastics and food and drink cartons.

Bridget Wayman, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for waste services, said: “I am delighted we have now confirmed these contracts and we can get on with the job of improving our waste and recycling services for residents.

“We already have great working relationships with both Hills Waste Solutions and FCC Environment and they are both as committed as we are to providing the best possible service.

“The good news for Wiltshire residents is they will be able to recycle even more and in a simpler way. We’ll make sure people have all the information they need about the new services over the coming months.”
