Police areappealing for witnesses after a project by a Cub Scout group was vandalised.

A month ago, the 1st Lavington Cub Scouts spent an evening constructing a Bug Hotel in the small copse between Market Lavington and Easterton.

Yesterday, the Cub Scout leader discovered the project had been destroyed.

Community coordinator PC Teresa Herbert said: “The group of young children put a lot of hard work into this project and were very proud of their achievement. They are really sad that the project has been destroyed, and angry at this pointless and spiteful act of vandalism.

“Although we don’t have an exact date and time of when this incident happened, we would like to hear from anyone who may have information that will assist police enquiries in identifying those responsible. In particular anyone who has seen or heard suspicious activity in the area over the past few weeks.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
