DYSON engineers showed off their football skills as they tackled eight hours of back to back games all in favour of raising £10,000 for Alzheimer's Research UK.

Four teams of 48 players battled it out on the pitch at the Cirencester Arena last Saturday (July 15) where the Bagless Boys claimed victory once again and took home the prestigious trophy, which has been engineered from Dyson parts.

“I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who got involved with the Dyson football marathon," Andrew Clifton, who helped organised the tournament this year with Philip Johnson, said. "It was a great day and we all made it out uninjured – other than some bruised egos! I’m sure the aches and pains are now wearing off, but the efforts the guys have put in will have a long-lasting impact for Alzheimer’s Research UK, which is fantastic!

“It’s quite unbelievable to think how much has been raised through the event over the four years and I feel really proud of what we’ve achieved. It just goes to show how much people enjoy being involved. Most people like football and it’s nice to see something positive coming from the game to help a fantastic charity like Alzheimer's Research UK.”

Dyson, who have organised this event for the last four years, have raised thousands of pounds for Alzheimer's Research UK over the past three years to help them achieve their mission of introducing a life-changing dementia treatment by 2025.

Vicky Lake, regional corporate partnerships manager, said: “What another amazing year for the Dyson football marathon! We can’t express our gratitude enough to Andrew and everyone else involved in the football marathon. It’s amazing to think that this one event has now raised more than £30,000 for Alzheimer's Research UK – these funds are going to make a huge difference in the fightback against dementia.

“One in three people know somebody affected by this devastating condition and it is our greatest medical challenge. The only chance we have of defeating dementia is through investing in research, which is why the support of our partners like Dyson is so vital.”
