SAINSBURY'S in Chippenham has raised more than £6,000 for St Nicholas School after they were selected for support by customers and staff last year.

Staff of the Bath Road superstore joined forces with the Friends of St Nicholas School to raise money for the school, who help teach children with learning difficulties or disabilities, and on Friday a cheque for £6,038.63 was presented to the school.

Store manager Val Atwill said: “We’ve really enjoyed working with St Nicholas School over the past 12 months. Everyone has worked really hard to help raise vital funds for the charity and we’re really proud with everything we’ve achieved.”

Ros Way, headteacher at St Nicholas School, added: “ A very big thank you to Sainsbury’s customers and the all staff at Sainsbury’s Chippenham for their support. Also thank you to the Friends of the St Nicholas school, who fundraised at the store throughout the year. We’re extremely grateful for the donations and awareness we’ve been able to raise."

At the end of June, customers were given the chance to vote in store and online for the store's new charity partner with the Forever Friends Appeal receiving the most votes in the Bath Road store and Free Wheelers receiving the most votes at the Station Hill Store.
