FROM fast cars to single horse power Lavington students staged dramatic entries when they arrived for their Year 11 prom.

The teenagers glammed up to the nines for their final farewell at Erlestoke Golf Club as they prepare to move on to sixth forms or college.

A number of youngsters chose to arrive in horse drawn carriages or astride a pony while others came in sports cars, a vintage police car, military vehicle or giant lorries.

School events organiser Becky Dunn was delighted with the evening. She said: "It was lovely and for the first time in a few years the sun was out which made it even better.

"All of the students looked fantastic. I hardly recognised some of them in their elegant clothes. It was a very happy evening. They had all gone to tremendous trouble with their look and their transport.

After the excitement of the dramatic arrivals the pupils enjoyed a buffet meal followed by a disco.

They also held their own Oscar style following a vote among themselves for awards in a number of categories.

Pictures from the evening will complete year books that will be given out on GCSE exam result day on August 24.

Mrs Dunn said: "They wanted the prom pictures to be in the year book so we decided to give them out on results day. They also had hoodies with all their names on that were given out before they went on exam leave."
