A PRIMARY school in Chippenham has been nominated to for a competition hosted by Walls Pastry to receive a £5,000 helping hand towards their regeneration.

Kington St Michael CE Primary School was nominated by several locals after the pastry company asked people to submit details of places that deserve a makeover or unsung heroes who make a real difference to the community.

The Helping Hand campaign will award £5,000 to the winners and provide a team of handy helpers, who will make sure the makeover is completed in just five days.

Michael Holton, brand manager for Wall’s Pastry said: “We’re thrilled that the people of Chippenham have got behind Kington St Michael CE Primary School in their bid to improve their outdoor learning environment. If they are lucky enough to win, the school are looking to create a pond and outdoor classroom in the shape of a dragon, where the children can learn and develop.

"Kington St Michael CE Primary School is clearly an important part of the community, playing a key role in a lot of people’s lives, making it a worthy nomination. Finding the money to maintain areas of strong standing within a community can be difficult and also expensive.

"We’re keen to lend a helping hand and discover what areas could really benefit residents and make a real difference to locals with a bit of TLC.”
